The Hurricane Irene theme continues today as people affected by the devastation work to rebuild their lives in the aftermath. The storm didn’t just break up families and destroy homes, it literally smooshed cars. Check out the decks below for photos of the unfortunate autos. Make the jump to see more.

why did these people park RIGHT under the trees? i know it’s a natural disaster, but there was prior warning…

I can’t blame them though. Who expects a sixty year old tree to go down if it’s been around for that long?

Ever heard insurance and getting a new one? Half of those cars are older…

Hope nobody got hurt. That Fiero GTu00a0took the brunt of that tree VERY well for being mostly a ‘plastic car’. It held up well. Any Toyota I care LESS about… they can have them. Toyotas are taking over the world and Nascar. Shame. I become DISinterested in Nascar more and more every year due to Toyotas ‘invasion’, NOT because my driver Jr. (#88) hasnt done well since ’04. Im am NOT a fan of Kyle Busch’s (#18) at ALL!! Hesu00a0NOT a role model Id likeu00a0ANY kid to root for.u00a0Only thing good about him is his sponsor (M&M’s)u00a0- DTM

Horrifying pictures to say the least, lucky nobody was in them.u00a0 I was a bit surprised to see all the foliage though.u00a0 I went through Andrew in ’92 in South Florida, and there wasn’t hardly a leaf leftu00a0on any tree, except for a few fortunate Royal Palms.u00a0 Perhaps the winds were a bit stronger backu00a0then, but we still prayed for those of youu00a0up North.u00a0 A small avocado tree came through one of the windows in the house I was staying inu00a0roots first, but it was not anywhere near as thick asu00a0some of these trees.u00a0u00a0 Believe it or not, after Andrew I actually did see a tall Royal Palm with about a 5 foot long 2X4 sticking rightu00a0through it near the top.u00a0 I had heard that story for years, as I’m sure everybody has,u00a0and I had neveru00a0seen it happen before…but there it was right there on my way to work.u00a0 Good thought not to venture out into one of these storms, as I’m glad that board didn’t hit me.
