Fun facts about 2012 car sales

A few weekends ago Hooniverse published an article breaking down 2012 car sales. Inside the post which you can read here, there are some really interesting fun facts about the cars the were sold. The article is long, perhaps a little too long for a weekday read, so here’s the most interesting bits you can digest in just a minute or two.

Battling Rental Cars – Mazda3 VS Chevrolet Cruz

On the weekend before Thanksgiving, Bryan Jennings and myself, Max Katsarelas rented a couple of cars and took road trips. Bryan drove to Virginia Beach in a Mazda3 sedan and I went to East Lansing, Michigan in a Chevrolet Cruz. For Bryan, it would be a round trip of about 800 miles. For me, it would be a round trip of about 1700 miles. Total driving time for the two of us combined was over 40 hours.

That was a lot of time to get to know our respective cars. We broke down our reviews into five categories: gas mileage, ride comfort, review of Hertz rental agency, tech gadgetry and the overall experience. Top 10 Used Car Wheel Designs

Motor Trend recently published Top 10 New Car Wheel Designs on Wide Open Throttle. These are the cars that can be driven right off the lot with wheels that don’t fail to impress. This means that a new car buyer won’t need to contribute coin to the auto aftermarket for a new set wheels which MSN Autos estimates to be a $295 billion business.

Cool used cars of the future: Tokyo Motor Show

Like all other auto shows, car makers are using the Tokyo Motor Show to unveil their latest concepts. The cars included below are cool. The Suzuki Regina, pictured to the right, however, is not cool. Maybe it’s the color. Maybe it’s the wheels. Maybe it’s because the car is just plain ugly. Edmunds released a list of the Top 10 Best Road Trip Vehicles in August based on their editors’ selections. Some of their choices like the number one pick, Chevrolet Equinox, or number three pick, Ford Flex, make sense. There are also some anomalies though. Take a look at the breakdown:
