The Ford F150 is the most popular pickup truck in the United States. The eleventh-generation F150, built from 2004 to 2008 and the twelfth-generation built from 2009 to 2014 are among the most Followed vehicles on Mojo Motors.
The F150 competes other pickup trucks like the Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, RAM 1500, Toyota Tundra and Nissan Frontier. Used Ford F150s for sale in Dallas and Fort Worth are the most popular pickup trucks in the State of Texas. Pickup trucks are usually defined by their cab size, towing capacity and beefy V8 engines. Ford trucks are categorized a bit differently.
F150 V6 Engine
Ford is changing the perception a pickup truck has to be powered by gas guzzling V8 engine. Starting in 2004, Ford released a series of different V6 engines just as capable as a V8. The F150 V6 engines include a 4.2 Essex V6 used from 2004 to 2008, the 3.5 L EcoBoost Twin Turbo V6 used from 2011 to the present and a 3.7 Duratec V6 used from 2011-present The F150 3.7 Duratec L Ti-VCT V6 Engine does not come with four-wheel drive, but does get a combined 20 MPG.
The F150 3.5 L EcoBoost Twin Turbo V6 (pictured above_ gets a combined 17 MPG, but is available in 4X4, unlike the Duratec. Even though the EcoBoost in the F150 is fuel efficient, it is not the most fuel efficient pickup truck on the market. The EcoTec3 5.3-liter V8 in the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 achieves a slightly higher combined MPG.
F150 Size & Cab Combinations
Even though pickup trucks were originally used for hard working jobs in construction or farming, they have been domesticated. The ample F150 interior and cab combinations range from utilitarian to luxurious. In the eleventh-generation F150, there are three cab sizes and three bed sizes: 5 and a half feet, 6 and a half feet or 8 feet. The F150 Regular Cab is the basic two-door utilitarian cab with one bench seat. It is typically used for fleet trucks.
The SuperCrew, pictured above, is the most popular, but also the most expensive cab option. The SuperCrew features four full-size doors and is available in ten different F150 trims. The SuperCab is an extended cab and bigger than a Regular Cab, but smaller than the SuperCrew. It has two full-size front doors and two smaller suicide doors in the back that open up a row of seats with room for up to three people.
