Ford Motor Company is an auto manufacturer based out of Dearborn, Michigan. Ford is one third of the “Detroit Big 3″ which is also made up of Chrysler and General Motors. The automaker builds cars in a number of countries including the U.S., Thailand, Romania, France, Wales, Mexico, Venezuala, India, Taiwan, Malaysia, South Africa, Russia, Turkey, Australia, England, China, Argentina, Malaysia and Spain.
Henry Ford founded Ford Motor Company in 1903 and released his first car, the Model A in 1903. It wasn’t until 1908 that Ford found acclaim with the Model T, the first automobile built for the mass market. The Model T was also the first vehicle to be built using an assembly line in 1913, effectively allowing the car to be assembled in 90 minutes. Success continued to follow the Ford Motor Company. They survived the Great Depression, they converted factories to produce airplanes and tanks during World War II and they went public in 1956.
From the 1950’s up until the early 21st century, Ford produced well-reviewed cars like the Mustang in 1964 which is considered the first muscle car. They later released the Explorer SUV (now a crossover), the full-size Taurus sedan, the economical Focus wagon, hatchback and sedan variants and the Escape, a small crossover. Vehicles built by Ford today leverage universal platforms helping the company save money while reducing the amount of expensive vehicle differentiators between countries. The F150 is where Ford has found the biggest commercial success. It’s not only one of the most Followed used trucks on Mojo Motors, it’s the best-selling pickup truck of all time.
In 2006, however, Ford fell onto hard times as the healthcare costs of current and retired employees began to exceed profits leading to an annual loss of $12.7B. The same year, William Clay Ford, Jr. handed off the roles of President and CEO to Alan Mulally who has since turned the company profitable again.
Ford Motor Company also has a motorsports division called Ford Racing, with sponsored teams competing in NASCAR, NHRA, Grand AM, V8 Supercar, World GT1 and GTs, Touring Car and Formula Drift. Read used Ford vehicles reviews below or see all used Fords for sale here.
